Herne Bay
Located on the north coast of Kent, just to the east of Whitstable and north of Canterbury. The seaside is the attraction here with wonderful gardens and a much smaller section of the kitch of traditional English seaside attractions.
Herne Bay Pier
Herne Bay Pier is a busy, vibrant pier that not only has the arcade games and fast food but also a neat selection of beach huts (yes, on the the pier) selling various handicrafts.
Around the pierhead are the traditional seaside attractions. To the east of the pier is “Neptune's Arm”, a causeway you can walk along that encompasses a small harbour area.
Town Centre
The high street is not much to speak of but “Mortimer Street” one street north is much more genteel and hosts the small weekly Saturday market. The entire street is pedestrianised.
Travel
There are loads of car parks though there is also street parking on the high street and side streets (60 minutes free). There is no parking on Mortimer Street. The train station ( Herne Bay) is quite a distance to the south of the town centre and pier.
