Tavistock
Tavistock is a small ancient town (founded 974) on the north-west edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The River Tavy runs through the town with wonderful a walking trail alongside. The town centre is small with a number of small, mostly independent shops along “West Street” which becomes “Duke Street”.
The “Tavistock Market” is in and around the town hall, located where “West Street” becomes “Duke Street” opposite the Tavistock Parish Church. These buildings also house the small Tavistock Museum.
Travel
Street parking is free. There is no train service. Getting around the town is easy enough on foot.
