Mid-Levels

The Mid-Level area on Hong Kong Island is an area just up from Central and is generally accessed via the Mid-Levels Escalator.

Mid-Levels

Dr Sun Yat-Sen Museum

The Museum

The Dr Sun Yat-Sen Museum is a new museum devoted to the famous man. A bit heavy on the propaganda but interesting nonetheless. Accessible via a short walk from the Mid-Levels Escalator just off Caine Road.

Man Mo Temple

Incense Coils

This temple is quite interesting though often crawling with tourists. The incense coils throughout are quite amazing in the dark interior. It is quite easy to miss the temple itself as it is quite small. If you visit please be aware that this is a working temple so show some respect to the local people worshiping here.

Hollywood Road

Hollywood Road is a well known area for antiques. Again, you can get there by a short walk from the escalator. Note that the shops are not opened during normal shop hours…

Mid-Levels Escalator

Top of the Escalator

This is the world's largest escalator – well, series of escalators – that begins at central (near Exchange Square) and goes up only after 10:20 until midnight every day. All other hours it is going down. Please be aware that if it is going in the wrong direction when you want to use it – it is a STEEP walk.
