Review of 'Olivo'
Quite a modern affair with a contemporary interior and menu to match.
We tried the “Tapas Tower for Two” which was, to put it mildly, a bit overwhelming. Included in the selection was: Chorizo & peppers with bread (a bit oily but nice), chicken fritters (nice but with a tzatziki sauce that was quite hot – so hot in fact you could taste nothing but it, no matter how little you used), pork belly (very tender and flavourful with a mild apple sauce), potato tortilla (very cheesy with a mild tzatziki sauce), homous (looking more like a guacamole than homous served with two nice pices of flat bread), and, finally, fried calamari (with no sauce but surprisingly flavourful with a nicely spiced batter). For two people this was a lot of food and we walked away feeling more than full…The price was right and service was quite good in the fairly crowded restaurant. Next time, I feel, we will go for the more traditional Italian dishes on the menu (our neighbour's rissoto looked quite nice as did another neighbour's pizza).
