Matlock

Bridge

Matlock is a small town to the south-east of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. The town is unremarkable in that it has a busy road running through it and not a lot of shops or things to see. It is more a starting point to explore the beautiful countryside that surrounds.

Council Offices

The River Derwent runs through the town with wonderful walks along the river that take in old mines of the area.

Train Bridge from Below Walk

In the middle of the town beside the bridge is Hall Leys Park which offers lovely walks through the flowers and a break from the otherwise hectic town.

Travel

The NRLOGO Matlock train station is on the west side of the river a short distance from the town centre. Parking on the town's narrow and steep streets is a bit hit or miss so it is recommended to try one of the town's car parks (if you miss these, on the way out of town is “Shining Cliff” car park which is only a short walk back to town but has some stunning views).
