Review of 'HK Diner (NOW CLOSED)'

Located right in Chintown HK Diner is a lively restaurant serving up quick but quite good Cantonese-style cuisine. Open VERY late (4 am) its menu is quite good with dishes being given in very generous quantities and at reasonable prices. Entering into the restaurant one could be forgiven to believe it is quite small but the restaurant extends quite a ways to the back and has a basement.

I started with a bowl of hot and sour soup which was hot but not so sour (unfortunately) never mind being a bit small. My deep-fried crab claws were alright if not terribly inspiring. My main dish of beef ho-fun (with a side of rice) was quite flavourful if a bit swimming with MSG.

The service was quite friendly dressed in jeans and simple street clothing (you can be forgiven to believe they are just other patrons). Be aware that if you want to use credit cards there is a minimum charge for this service (there is also a per-person minimum charge to also be aware of, regardless of cash or credit).

Not too bad, I will be back to sample other items on the menu, cheap, cheerful and even a bit tasty.
