Review of 'TGI Friday's'

We visited this big world-wide chain for my wife's birthday and we had a very good time indeed. The menu is typically American and we very much enjoyed our appetiser of Jack Daniel Wings (£9.99 for the large) which were very tender and full of meat coated with the fantastic JD sauce (and also provided on the side for dipping). We both had, to continue the meaty theme, ribs for our mains with my Jack Daniel Double Glazed Half Rack (£12.99) being fantastic though a bit skimpy on the meat between the ribs and only a small amount of (excellent) coleslaw. My wife had the (normal) JD Ribs Half Rack (£10.99) which were baby-back ribs that had much more meat but were much smaller than mine. Again with both of the rib dishes we very much enjoyed the sauce. We have visited many rib places in London and we have to admit these are certainly among the best (if not THE best).

One of the biggest draws to TGI Friday's are the burgers which looked huge and are made with the best Aberdeen Angus beef. The large menu is full of other American classics as well…Milk shakes, onion rings, steaks, etc.

The restaurant is papered with Americana such as pictures of American actors, electric guitars, movie posters, etc. Similar to what you would see at Hard Rock Cafe.

Our server was friendly and helpful (including continuing to top-up my bottomless coke even when I did not ask!). She even brought us a slice of wonderful chocolate cake for my companion at the end of the meal and sang happy birthday (yeah, yeah, part of the gimick but appreciated).

Yep, it is a big American chain. Yep, it is (perhaps) overly pricey American food. Yep, it is gimicky. It is not, of course, the most gourmet of food either. But if this is what you are looking for you can't go too wrong here.
