Review of 'The Peak Lookout'

cimg7803.jpg The Peak Lookout is a Peak institution located across from the Peak tram station for many years now. It is a spectacular location with a large outdoor eating area around the back surrounded by trees and looking out over the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir, and Kong Sin Wan Tseun on the far side of Hong Kong island. The restaurant itself is fashioned after a villa in the Alps. In many ways it is this view that you are paying for - And it is a high price indeed - But if you afford it, do go. I keep coming back.

Main Entrance

My latest visit we were seated right against the railing over-looking the dam - Probably the best view in the entire restaurant though we were quite close to the kitchen that my companion looked into throughout the meal.

View We were here for lunch so were not overly hungry. We started with the “Spicy Calamari” ($138) which was a bit bland despite the name, and quite greasy.

Calamari

Our mains were their signature “Club Sandwich” which was a massive sandwich cut into four with a large portion of fries in the middle ($148). This was also quite bland but extremely filling. Talking to our waiter this appears to be their ethos - Expensive food but large portions.

Club Sandwich

I was a great fan of their tropical fruit cocktail drink ($65) which was wonderfully tangy with lots of flavour.

At a total more than $710 this was not a cheap meal but the service was great, the view is fantastic and it was a breath of fresh air compared to the other side of the road with the shopping centre and massive new Peak tram station/shopping centre. If you want a break from this, give Peak Lookout a try.
