Review of 'Dead Space: Downfall'

dead_space_downfall.jpg This is an American animation piece that is meant as a prequel to a new video game from Electronic Arts. The story follows the recovery of an ancient artefact found near a mining colony on a distant planet and the visit of a ship to collect it. Things go a bit awry as people from the planet are turned into hideous monsters and go about everywhere and start killing people. The infection soon spreads to the space ship and follows the security detail as it attempts to eradicate the threat. Not for the faint of heart or those that do not like blood as it and limbs are frequently thrown about on the screen. The swearing is largely humorous as it appears to be included in the dialogue to pump up it's certificate to attract a certain type of audience. The animation is not that bad but the story is repetitive and often boring. The voice acting is adequate. Obviously this movie's soul purpose appears to drum up support for the video game and I can see that it may very well achieve that for certain types of viewers…For those looking for a good movie I would suggest they go elsewhere.

Rating: “Average, but who wants to be average?”
