Review of 'Day Watch (Dnevnoy dozor)'

day_watch.jpg In 2005 the original Night Watch movie was quite a surprise: A Russian action film that was innovative and original – also terribly violent. Now Day Watch is released and is quite an improvement on the original. Much better effects, a smart script, fantastic story, and very good performances from the lead actors.

Our hero, Anton, is in a bit of trouble as he is framed by the Dark Others for several unexplained murders. At the same time an apocalyptic clash is waiting if the two Great Others (one dark, one light) meet…One of them happens to be Anton's son the other his new partner…What are the odds? Anton has to prove his innocence but, of course, forces are against him even after taking rather drastic steps to hide…

Really you need to have seen the first movie to have a hope of what is happening (having seen it a few years ago I was a bit pushed myself…). I found the movie quite riveting and a thrill from the beginning to end. Here's hoping the final movie in the trilogy is just as good…
