Review of '2 Guns'

2GN_31_5_Promo_4C_4F.indd Robert “Bobby” Trench (Denzel Washington) is an undercover DEA agent who decides to work with gunman Michael “Stig” Stigman (Mark Wahlberg) in robbing the Tres Cruces bank in order to prosecute Manny “Papi” Greco (Edward James Olmos) for money laundering. They are surprised when robbery turns up far more than the $3 million they expected and quickly discover someone is very anxious to get it back. Stig turns out to be an undercover Navy SEAL who is under orders to take the money to fund covert operations and is surprised after shooting Bobby to discover his DEA credentials. Things get even more confusing when the owners of the cash are the CIA…the chase is on!

Full of witty dialogue and slick editing this film really did draw me in. Washington and Wahlberg are so much fun together in this off-beat action/comedy that keeps you guessing all the time. To be sure, the violence is often quite graphic and you don't really want to be thinking too much about it. I did find the plot quite confusing figuring out who was doing what to whom but this is secondary as you can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
