Review of 'The English: A Portrait of a People'

The English: A Portrait of a People by Jeremy Paxman

A tedious look at the English pysche and the lack of any discernable identity of any kind. This is a book only the English (and a certain, perhaps pedantic, type of personality) would love. The chapter dealing with woman (much later in the book) is quite interesting and very disturbing as it traces the systematic repression of woman throughout English history. Though the information was interesting I found this book very tedious and difficult to read.

Rating: “A slight glimmer of hope, but mostly awful”
