Review of 'The Valley of Horses'

The Valley of Horses by Jean M. Auel
2nd book in the 'Earth's Children' series

Ayla, outcast from her clan is forced to make her own way in the world as she struggles north and comes across an idyllic valley that she makes her own. At the same time Jondalar and his younger brother Thonolan are on a quest to follow the path of the great mother river to the sea (conviently only a short distance from where Anyla has made her home). We follow the two stories as they eventually come together – perhaps Ayla has finally found a mate? This novel is quite well written with the sex scenes extremely…steamy (but requiring a re-read…) and the storyline a bit slow moving but otherwise enthralling. The description of the land, it's people and creatures is fascinating. Perhaps not as good as Clan this is nonetheless a good sequel.

Rating: “It is OK but I have some issues”

Genre: General Fiction
