Review of 'MEATliquor W1 (Old Location) (NOW CLOSED)'

Ever since MEATliquor opened back in 2011 I have wanted to visit this burger restaurant as I had heard so much about it but every time I have passed by there has been a queue and I have not been in the mood to queue. All this changed yesterday when we were in the area and looking for somewhere to eat. There was a still a queue but we did not mind waiting this time.

Review of 'L'Autre Pied (NOW CLOSED)'

I have been hearing about “L'Autre Pied” for quite some now so when an offer came up in GroupOn for their 7 course tasting menu (normally £62 each; another £38 if you want the wine pairing for each course) we jumped at the chance to have a try. The small restaurant is on a side street in Marylebone and could easily be missed in an area where there are a large number of restaurants (most not quite as nice as this). We were warmly welcomed by the staff w…

Review of 'Roux at the Landau'

My wife surprised me a few weeks ago by revealing she had booked us in at Roux at the Landau for a Sunday brunch. Our birthdays are a week apart so this was to be OUR special treat, not just hers or mine, it was for both of us. We had both selected other restaurants for our actual birthday night dinners (she chose

Review of 'The Wigmore'

With a menu overseen by the renowned Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr. you would expect “The Wigmore” to be a cut above a normal pub...and it is. But is it Michelin-quality? No.

Ever since we heard that Roux was opening a pub next door to his

Review of 'Neat Burger'

“Neat Burger” came to our attention being fans of Formula 1 car racing as world champion Lewis Hamilton is a partner of the restaurant in promoting it is a vegan, plant-based menu. Knowing that everyone should to their bit to help the environment and willing to give anything a try once, despite being meat eaters, we decided to visit the other day when in the city for a film. We visited the Princes Street restaurant which is one street south of Oxford Street right at…

A few years ago we visited W1 branch of MEATLiquor in their original location on Wellbeck Street (see my review [/reviews/restaurants/england/london/marylebone/251|here]]) behind the old House of Fraser, a few streets west of their current location which is just off of Regent Street two streets north of Oxford Circus. At least they are now a lot easier to find!

Review of 'Royal China (Baker Street)'

With the closure of our “local” Royal China at Queensway (see my somewhat brief review here) we have been a bit at a loss. Puzzling is that the Queensway location was always so busy particularly on Saturdays and Sundays where it was common to wait up to an hour for a table for dim sum. Thankfully, this old favourite is still around in other locations across the city so we took the opportunity to visit their

A personal favourite

It is easy to find Roti King - Leave Euston Station to the East and turn left onto Eversholt Street. Look to your right and soon as you see a queue on the street you have found Roti King. Not for nothing is this a much sought-out Malaysian restaurant in this unusual location located in the basement of a set of terraced houses never mind in an area where there are no other restaurants. I have tried to visit in the past but gave up after realizing I…

I have always wanted to visit Hoppers having heard so many good things about it. Serving classic Sri Lankan dishes it has to be a bit of a rarity even in London. The food is reminiscent of India but featuring more tropical flavours such as coconut and pineapple.

A planned trip to London coincided with receiving an offer for a £45 four course menu at Japanese restaurant “Kibako” promising some interesting looking sushi options including an interesting 9-compartment square bento box. We could not pass on this so purchased our vouchers and made our reservation.
