VSO in the Gambia
The VSO are very active in the Gambia, providing developmental support in various sectors including health and education where their primary focus lies.
I have a bit of an interest in the work done by VSO here since I am a volunteer (see here for why) working with the Department of State for Health in the Planning Unit in Banjul. My first few weeks involved training and settling into my new life for the new few years (see here for my journal of this period).
There are a number of periods over the year where VSO here in the Gambia bring in volunteers. The placements vary in length from as little as six months to two years with many volunteers choosing to extend after their placement is supposed to finish.
