Review of 'St. John Bread and Wine'

A fantastic “lighter” version of the main St. John Restaurant that does not skimp on the quality that has made the name a by-word for exceptional British “nose-to-tail” eating in London. Offering a simpler but no less interesting menu Bread and Wine offers all of the first class quality and service of St. John. I enjoyed the more relaxed dining room experience that it entered directly off the street (across from Spitalfields market) though the interior was a bit more cramped than St. John. We found it difficult to walk across the room to our table without disturbing other eaters. The daily specials on the blackboard are definitely worth a try with all meals coming with their famous home-made bread. The prices are fairly moderate with the specials being a particular bargain with their fresh soup of the day. I will definitely be back. Perhaps after a visit back to their main restaurant…
