Review of 'Jumbuck's Cafe (NOW CLOSED)'

A chain of restaurants throughout Britain that serves up Australian-style round pies with a wonderful flaky crust as well as other various Australian food stuffs (soft drinks, and snacks). There are specials on offer every day but we had the pie, mash, peas (chunky, crushed, peas) and gravy. The pie was not terribly large with a good amount of pastry but still very tasty. There are a good variety of fillings including things such as “Chicken Korma” (more suited for an Indian restaurant than a pie, in my opinion!), “Aussie Rules” (steak, bacon and cheese) and “Footie” (beef and Guinness) - They have veggie options as well.

This is a take-away/eat in restaurant with simple furniture and Australian groceries along one of the walls making it seem like you are eating in a corner store. Open late this café always appears to be busy when I pass by to and from work. Tasty, and, of course, not terribly expensive (look at spending about £6 for a meal, extra for drinks). Ok, not the best location in the world but with various other locations across the country…
