Review of 'Mezzo'

My first foray into the world (literally) of Terrence Conran restaurants was quite a pleasurable one. Set in an unlikely location, this restaurant has two levels, the basement serving modern European and the “Mezzonine” serving contemporary Asian, in a open and vibrant (read: noisy with lots of people about) environment. The food is well presented and prepared with the freshest ingredients. Service is polite (if rather hurried considering the size of the place) and quite refined. A characteristically small menu contains a wide assortment of fantastic dishes (in the basement do try to eat some of their wonderful seafood). Price is a bit high but not exceedingly so for this style of restaurant. Live music in the basement most evenings (cover charge on weekends).
