Review of 'The Man with a Thousand Names'

The Man with a Thousand Names by A.E. Van Vogt

One of the most confusing and unsympathetic books I have ever read. The “hero” (being generous with my terms) is a spoiled rich young man by the name of Steven Masters who gets himself on a spaceship to the nearest habitable planet of Mittend only to, very shortly after landing, have his mind transferred to the body of one of many people he “wronged” back on earth. This continues for pretty much throughout the book as we learn what the “mother” being wants from him. I found this very hard to read and cannot really recommend it other than to say it was definitely not boring.

Rating: “A slight glimmer of hope, but mostly awful”

Genre: Science Fiction
