Review of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time'

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

Christopher is an extremely intelligent 15-year old young man suffering from autism. This novel is written by him as a “murder-mystery” to solve the mystery mentioned in the title. Along the way Christopher discovers some hidden truths from his past that cause his world to collapse. This is an interesting and intriguing look at the world through a unique perspective. A young man who does not like to be touched, does not lie (well, not very often) and sees the world in a completely different light. Fascinating and touching at the same time. The novel is sprinkled with math problems and comments on what Christopher sees around him including conversations he does not understand but relates truthfully (revealing much to the reader). Truly worthy of the awards it has received over the past year.
